1 F or behold, the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, will take away from Jerusalem and from Judah stay and staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,

Nầy, Chúa, là Đức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, sẽ cất lấy chói và gậy khỏi Giê-ru-sa-lem và Giu-đa, tức là cả bánh nó cậy và cả nước nó nhờ.

2 t he mighty man and the man of war, the judge and the prophet, and the diviner and the elder,

Ngài sẽ cất lấy những người mạnh mẽ, chiến sĩ, quan xét, đấng tiên tri, thầy bói, trưởng lão,

3 t he captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the clever among artificers, and the one versed in enchantments.

cai đội, dòng quí phái, mưu sĩ, lương công, và thuật sĩ.

4 A nd I will appoint youths as their princes, and children shall rule over them.

Ta sẽ ban cho họ những người trai trẻ làm quan trưởng, và con nít sẽ cai trị họ.

5 A nd the people shall be oppressed one by the other, and each by his neighbour; the child will be insolent against the elder, and the base against the honourable.

Dân sự hà hiếp nhau, người với người, lân cận với lân cận; con nít lấn lướt kẻ già cả, người hèn hạ lấn lướt người tôn trọng.

6 W hen a man shall take hold of his brother, in his father's house, Thou hast clothing; be our chief, and let this ruin be under thy hand;

Khi một người sẽ bắt anh em mình tại nhà cha mà nói với rằng: Ngươi có áo choàng; hãy làm đầu chúng ta, và sự bại hoại nầy hãy thuộc về dưới tay ngươi!

7 h e will lift up in that day, saying, I cannot be a healer, and in my house there is neither bread nor clothing; ye shall not make me a chief of the people.

Trong ngày đó người kia lên tiếng đáp rằng: Không, ta không làm thầy chữa lành, và trong nhà ta không có bánh cũng không có áo; chớ lập ta làm quan cai dân sự.

8 F or Jerusalem stumbleth and Judah falleth, because their tongue and their doings are against Jehovah, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

Giê-ru-sa-lem phải nghiêng úp, và Giu-đa xiêu đổ; vì lời nói việc làm của họ nghịch cùng Đức Giê-hô-va, và trêu chọc con mắt của uy nghiêm Ngài.

9 T he look of their face doth witness against them, and they declare their sin as Sodom: they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have brought evil upon themselves.

Bộ mặt họ làm chứng nghịch cùng mình; họ bêu tội rõ ràng như thành Sô-đôm chẳng giấu chút nào. Khốn thay cho linh hồn họ! vì họ đã làm hại cho mình!

10 S ay ye of the righteous that it shall be well, for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

Hãy rao cho kẻ công bình được phước; vì họ sẽ ăn trái của việc làm mình.

11 W oe unto the wicked! it shall be ill, because the desert of his hands shall be rendered unto him.

Khốn cho kẻ hung ác, ắt mang họa! Vì họ sẽ thâu lại việc tự tay mình làm ra!

12 m y people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. My people! they that guide thee mislead, and destroy the way of thy paths.

Dân ta bị con nít hà hiếp, và đờn bà cai trị nó. Hỡi dân ta, kẻ dẫn ngươi làm cho ngươi sai lạc, và họ phá hoại đường lối ngươi.

13 J ehovah setteth himself to plead, and standeth to judge the peoples.

Đức Giê-hô-va dấy lên đặng biện luận, Ngài đứng mà xét đoán các dân.

14 J ehovah will enter into judgment with the elders of his people and their princes, It is ye that have eaten up the vineyard: the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

Đức Giê-hô-va xét đoán các trưởng lão của dân Ngài với các quan trưởng nó: Aáy chính các ngươi là kẻ đã nuốt vườn nho; của cướp bóc kẻ nghèo đương ở trong nhà các ngươi!

15 W hat mean ye that ye crush my people, and grind the faces of the afflicted? saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.

Các ngươi có ý gì mà đè ép dân ta, giày vò mặt kẻ nghèo khó? Chúa, là Đức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, phán vậy.

16 A nd Jehovah said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched-out neck and wanton eyes, and go along mincing, and making a tinkling with their feet;

Đức Giê-hô-va lại phán rằng: Vì những con gái Si-ôn kiêu ngạo, ngóng cổ bước tới, liếc mắt trêu ngươi, vừa đi õng ẹo, vừa khua động tiếng dưới chơn,

17 t herefore the Lord will make bald the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and Jehovah will lay bare their secret parts.

nên Chúa sẽ làm cho đỉnh đầu con gái Si-ôn đóng vảy, và Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ lột truồng chúng nó.

18 I n that day the Lord will take away the ornament of anklets, and the little suns and crescents,

Trong ngày đó, Chúa sẽ cất những vòng mắt cá họ trang sức đi, cái lưới và cái cài;

19 t he pearl-drops, and the bracelets, and the veils,

hoa tai, xuyến và lúp;

20 t he head-dresses, and the stepping chains, and the girdles, and the scent-boxes, and the amulets;

mão, chuyền mắt cá, nít lưng, hợp hương và bùa đeo;

21 t he finger-rings, and the nose-rings;

cà rá và khoen đeo mũi;

22 t he festival-robes, and the tunics, and the mantles, and the wallets;

áo lễ, áo lá rộng, áo choàng, túi nhỏ;

23 t he mirrors, and the fine linen bodices, and the turbans, and the flowing veils.

gương tay, vải mỏng, khăn bịt đầu và màn che mặt.

24 A nd it shall come to pass, instead of perfume there shall be rottenness; and instead of a girdle, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a robe of display, a girding of sackcloth; brand instead of beauty.

Sẽ có mùi hôi hám thay vì thơm tho; dây tói thay vì nịt lưng; đầy sói thay vì tóc quăn; bao gai quấn mình thay vì áo dài phấp phới; dấu phỏng thay vì sắc đẹp.

25 T hy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the fight;

Lính chiến ngươi sẽ ngã dưới gươm, những kẻ anh hùng ngươi sẽ bị tử trận.

26 a nd her gates shall lament and mourn; and, stripped, she shall sit upon the ground.

Các cửa nó sẽ than khóc và thảm sầu; nó vắng vẻ ngồi trên đất.
