1 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses and unto Aaron, in the land of Egypt, saying,

And Jehovah spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,

2 ` This month to you the chief of months -- it the first to you of the months of the year;

This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

3 s peak ye unto all the company of Israel, saying, In the tenth of this month -- they take to them each man a lamb for the house of the fathers, a lamb for a house.

Speak unto all the assembly of Israel, saying, On the tenth of this month let them take themselves each a lamb, for a father's house, a lamb for a house.

4 ` (And if the household be too few for a lamb, then hath he taken, he and his neighbour who is near unto his house, for the number of persons, each according to his eating ye do count for the lamb,)

And if the household be too small for a lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take according to the number of the souls; each according to of his eating shall ye count for the lamb.

5 a lamb, a perfect one, a male, a son of a year, let be to you; from the sheep or from the goats ye do take.

Your lamb shall be without blemish, a yearling male; ye shall take from the sheep, or from the goats.

6 ` And it hath become a charge to you, until the fourteenth day of this month, and the whole assembly of the company of Israel have slaughtered it between the evenings;

And ye shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month; and the whole congregation of the assembly of Israel shall kill it between the two evenings.

7 a nd they have taken of the blood, and have put on the two side-posts, and on the lintel over the houses in which they eat it.

And they shall take of the blood, and put on the two door-posts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it.

8 ` And they have eaten the flesh in this night, roast with fire; with unleavened things and bitters they do eat it;

And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; with bitter shall they eat it.

9 y e do not eat of it raw, or boiled at all in water, but roast with fire, its head with its legs, and with its inwards;

Ye shall eat none of it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roast with fire; its head with its legs and with its in-wards.

10 a nd ye do not leave of it till morning, and that which is remaining of it till morning with fire ye do burn.

And ye shall let none of it remain until the morning; and what remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

11 ` And thus ye do eat it: your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand, and ye have eaten it in haste; it is Jehovah's passover,

And thus shall ye eat it: your loins shall be girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste; it is Jehovah's passover.

12 a nd I have passed over through the land of Egypt during this night, and have smitten every first-born in the land of Egypt, from man even unto beast, and on all the gods of Egypt I do judgments; I Jehovah.

And I will go through the land of Egypt in that night, and smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am Jehovah.

13 ` And the blood hath become a sign for you on the houses where ye, and I have seen the blood, and have passed over you, and a plague is not on you for destruction in My smiting in the land of Egypt.

And the blood shall be for you as a sign on the houses in which ye are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be among you for destruction, when I smite the land of Egypt.

14 ` And this day hath become to you a memorial, and ye have kept it a feast to Jehovah to your generations; -- a statute age-during; ye keep it a feast.

And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall celebrate it a feast to Jehovah; throughout your generations an ordinance for ever shall ye celebrate it.

15 S even days ye eat unleavened things; only -- in the first day ye cause leaven to cease out of your houses; for any one eating anything fermented from the first day till the seventh day, even that person hath been cut off from Israel.

Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread: on the very first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses; for whoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day—that soul shall be cut off from Israel.

16 ` And in the first day a holy convocation, and in the seventh day ye have a holy convocation; any work is not done in them, only that which is eaten by any person -- it alone is done by you,

And on the first day ye shall have a holy convocation, and on the seventh day a holy convocation: no manner of work shall be done on them, save what is eaten by every person—that only shall be done by you.

17 a nd ye have observed the unleavened things, for in this self-same day I have brought out your hosts from the land of Egypt, and ye have observed this day to your generations -- a statute age-during.

And ye shall keep the unleavened; for in this same day have I brought your hosts out of the land of Egypt; and ye shall keep this day in your generations an ordinance for ever.

18 ` In the first, in the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening, ye do eat unleavened things until the one and twentieth day of the month, at evening;

In the first, on the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening, ye shall eat unleavened bread until the one and twentieth day of the month in the evening.

19 s even days leaven is not found in your houses, for any eating anything fermented -- that person hath been cut off from the company of Israel, among the sojourners or among the natives of the land;

Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses; for whoever eateth what is leavened—that soul shall be cut off from the assembly of Israel, whether he be a sojourner, or born in the land.

20 a nything fermented ye do not eat, in all your dwellings ye do eat unleavened things.'

Ye shall eat nothing leavened: in all your dwellings shall ye eat unleavened bread.

21 A nd Moses calleth for all the elders of Israel, and saith unto them, `Draw out and take for yourselves the flock, for your families, and slaughter the passover-sacrifice;

And Moses called all the elders of Israel, and said to them, Seize and take yourselves lambs for your families, and kill the passover.

22 a nd ye have taken a bunch of hyssop, and have dipped in the blood which in the basin, and have struck on the lintel, and on the two side-posts, from the blood which in the basin, and ye, ye go not out each from the opening of his house till morning.

And take a bunch of hyssop, and dip in the blood that is in the bason, and smear the lintel and the two door-posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning.

23 ` And Jehovah hath passed on to smite the Egyptians, and hath seen the blood on the lintel, and on the two side-posts, and Jehovah hath passed over the opening, and doth not permit the destruction to come into your houses to smite.

And Jehovah will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he sees the blood on the lintel, and on the two door-posts, Jehovah will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come into your houses to smite.

24 ` And ye have observed this thing, for a statute to thee, and to thy sons -- unto the age;

And ye shall observe this as an ordinance for thee and for thy sons for ever.

25 a nd it hath been, when ye come in unto the land which Jehovah giveth to you, as He hath spoken, that ye have kept this service;

And it shall come to pass, when ye are come into the land that Jehovah will give you, as he has promised, that ye shall keep this service.

26 a nd it hath come to pass when your sons say unto you, What this service ye have?

And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say to you, What mean ye by this service?

27 t hat ye have said, A sacrifice of passover it to Jehovah, who passed over the houses of the sons of Israel in Egypt, in His smiting the Egyptians, and our houses He delivered.'

that ye shall say, It is a sacrifice of passover to Jehovah, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt when he smote the Egyptians and delivered our houses. And the people bowed their heads and worshipped.

28 A nd the people bow and do obeisance, and the sons of Israel go and do as Jehovah commanded Moses and Aaron; so have they done.

And the children of Israel went away, and did as Jehovah had commanded Moses and Aaron; so did they.

29 A nd it cometh to pass, at midnight, that Jehovah hath smitten every first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of Pharaoh who is sitting on his throne, unto the first-born of the captive who in the prison-house, and every first-born of beasts.

And it came to pass that at midnight Jehovah smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of cattle.

30 A nd Pharaoh riseth by night, he and all his servants, and all the Egyptians, and there is a great cry in Egypt, for there is not a house where there is not dead,

And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his bondmen, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house in which there was not one dead.

31 a nd he calleth for Moses and for Aaron by night, and saith, `Rise, go out from the midst of my people, both ye and the sons of Israel, and go, serve Jehovah according to your word;

And he called Moses and Aaron in the night, and said, Rise up, go away from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve Jehovah, as ye have said.

32 b oth your flock and your herd take ye, as ye have spoken, and go; then ye have blessed also me.'

Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and go; and bless me also.

33 A nd the Egyptians are urgent on the people, hasting to send them away out of the land, for they said, `We are all dead;'

And the Egyptians urged the people, to send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We are all dead!

34 a nd the people taketh up its dough before it is fermented, their kneading-troughs bound up in their garments on their shoulder.

And the people took their dough before it was leavened; their kneading-troughs bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders.

35 A nd the sons of Israel have done according to the word of Moses, and they ask from the Egyptians vessels of silver and vessels of gold, and garments;

And the children of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, and they had asked of the Egyptians utensils of silver, and utensils of gold, and clothing.

36 a nd Jehovah hath given the grace of the people in the eyes of the Egyptians, and they cause them to ask, and they spoil the Egyptians.

And Jehovah had given the people favour in the eyes of the Egyptians, and they gave to them; and they spoiled the Egyptians.

37 A nd the sons of Israel journey from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, apart from infants;

And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot men, besides children.

38 a nd a great rabble also hath gone up with them, and flock and herd -- very much cattle.

And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks and herds—very much cattle.

39 A nd they bake with the dough which they have brought out from Egypt unleavened cakes, for it hath not fermented; for they have been cast out of Egypt, and have not been able to delay, and also provision they have not made for themselves.

And they baked the dough that they brought forth out of Egypt into unleavened cakes, for it was not leavened; for they were driven out of Egypt, and could not wait; neither had they prepared for themselves any food.

40 A nd the dwelling of the sons of Israel which they have dwelt in Egypt four hundred and thirty years;

And the residence of the children of Israel that they resided in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years.

41 a nd it cometh to pass, at the end of four hundred and thirty years -- yea, it cometh to pass in this self-same day -- all the hosts of Jehovah have gone out from the land of Egypt.

And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, on that same day it came to pass that all the hosts of Jehovah went out from the land of Egypt.

42 A night of watchings it to Jehovah, to bring them out from the land of Egypt; it this night to Jehovah of watchings to all the sons of Israel to their generations.

It is a night of observance to Jehovah, because of their being brought out from the land of Egypt: that same night is an observance to Jehovah for all the children of Israel in their generations.

43 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses and Aaron, `This a statute of the passover; Any son of a stranger doth not eat of it;

And Jehovah said to Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: No stranger shall eat of it;

44 a nd any man's servant, the purchase of money, when thou hast circumcised him -- then he doth eat of it;

but every man's bondman that is bought for money—let him be circumcised: then shall he eat it.

45 a settler or hired servant doth not eat of it;

A settler and a hired servant shall not eat it.

46 i n one house it is eaten, thou dost not carry out of the house of the flesh without, and a bone ye do not break of it;

In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth any of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof.

47 a ll the company of Israel do keep it.

All the assembly of Israel shall hold it.

48 ` And when a sojourner sojourneth with thee, and hath made a passover to Jehovah, every male of his to be circumcised, and then he doth come near to keep it, and he hath been as a native of the land, but any uncircumcised one doth not eat of it;

And when a sojourner sojourneth with thee, and would hold the passover to Jehovah, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and hold it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land; but no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.

49 o ne law is to a native, and to a sojourner who is sojourning in your midst.'

One law shall be for him that is home-born and for the sojourner that sojourneth among you.

50 A nd all the sons of Israel do as Jehovah commanded Moses and Aaron; so have they done.

And all the children of Israel did as Jehovah had commanded Moses and Aaron; so did they.

51 A nd it cometh to pass in this self-same day, Jehovah hath brought out the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt, by their hosts.

And it came to pass on that same day, Jehovah brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt according to their hosts.
