1 W hen Jesus had finished these words, he departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judea beyond the Jordan.

And it came to pass when Jesus had finished these words, he departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judaea beyond the Jordan;

2 G reat multitudes followed him, and he healed them there.

and great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.

3 P harisees came to him, testing him, and saying, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?”

And there came unto him Pharisees, trying him, and saying, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

4 H e answered, “Haven’t you read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female,

And he answered and said, Have ye not read, that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female,

5 a nd said, ‘For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall join to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh?’

and said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh?

6 S o that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don’t let man tear apart.”

So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

7 T hey asked him, “Why then did Moses command us to give her a bill of divorce, and divorce her?”

They say unto him, Why then did Moses command to give a bill of divorcement, and to put her away?

8 H e said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been so.

He saith unto them, Moses for your hardness of heart suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it hath not been so.

9 I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery.”

And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth her when she is put away committeth adultery.

10 H is disciples said to him, “If this is the case of the man with his wife, it is not expedient to marry.”

The disciples say unto him, If the case of the man is so with his wife, it is not expedient to marry.

11 B ut he said to them, “Not all men can receive this saying, but those to whom it is given.

But he said unto them, Not all men can receive this saying, but they to whom it is given.

12 F or there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heaven’s sake. He who is able to receive it, let him receive it.”

For there are eunuchs, that were so born from their mother's womb: and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

13 T hen little children were brought to him, that he should lay his hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.

Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should lay his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

14 B ut Jesus said, “Allow the little children, and don’t forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these.”

But Jesus said, Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for to such belongeth the kingdom of heaven.

15 H e laid his hands on them, and departed from there.

And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

16 B ehold, one came to him and said, “Good teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?”

And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

17 H e said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

And he said unto him, Why askest thou me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments.

18 H e said to him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder.’ ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ ‘You shall not steal.’ ‘You shall not offer false testimony.’

He saith unto him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

19 Honor your father and mother.’ And, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Honor thy father and mother; and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

20 T he young man said to him, “All these things I have observed from my youth. What do I still lack?”

The young man saith unto him, All these things have I observed: what lack I yet?

21 J esus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

Jesus said unto him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell that which thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

22 B ut when the young man heard the saying, he went away sad, for he was one who had great possessions.

But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sorrowful; for he was one that had great possessions.

23 J esus said to his disciples, “Most certainly I say to you, a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty.

And Jesus said unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, It is hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.

24 A gain I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”

And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

25 W hen the disciples heard it, they were exceedingly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

And when the disciples heard it, they were astonished exceedingly, saying, Who then can be saved?

26 L ooking at them, Jesus said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

And Jesus looking upon them said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

27 T hen Peter answered, “Behold, we have left everything, and followed you. What then will we have?”

Then answered Peter and said unto him, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee; what then shall we have?

28 J esus said to them, “Most certainly I tell you that you who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on the throne of his glory, you also will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that ye who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

29 E veryone who has left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive one hundred times, and will inherit eternal life.

And every one that hath left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life.

30 B ut many will be last who are first; and first who are last.

But many shall be last that are first; and first that are last.
