grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 N oi dobbiamo sempre ringraziare Dio per voi, fratelli, com’è giusto, perché la vostra fede cresce in modo eccellente, e l’amore di ciascuno di voi tutti per gli altri abbonda sempre di più;

We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

4 i n modo che noi stessi ci gloriamo di voi nelle chiese di Dio, a motivo della vostra costanza e fede in tutte le vostre persecuzioni e nelle afflizioni che sopportate.

so that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

5 Q uesta è una prova del giusto giudizio di Dio, perché siate riconosciuti degni del regno di Dio, per il quale anche soffrite.

which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

6 P oiché è giusto da parte di Dio rendere a quelli che vi affliggono, afflizione;

seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

7 e a voi che siete afflitti, riposo con noi, quando il Signore Gesù apparirà dal cielo con gli angeli della sua potenza,

and to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

8 i n un fuoco fiammeggiante, per far vendetta di coloro che non conoscono Dio, e di coloro che non ubbidiscono al vangelo del nostro Signore Gesù.

in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9 E ssi saranno puniti di eterna rovina, respinti dalla presenza del Signore e dalla gloria della sua potenza,

who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

10 q uando verrà per essere in quel giorno glorificato nei suoi santi e ammirato in tutti quelli che hanno creduto, perché la nostra testimonianza in mezzo a voi è stata creduta.

when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

11 E d è anche a quel fine che preghiamo continuamente per voi, affinché il nostro Dio vi ritenga degni della vocazione e compia con potenza ogni vostro buon desiderio e l’opera della vostra fede,

Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

12 i n modo che il nome del nostro Signore Gesù sia glorificato in voi, e voi in lui, secondo la grazia del nostro Dio e Signore Gesù Cristo.

that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
