1 O God, the nations have invaded Your inheritance; They have defiled Your holy temple; They have laid Jerusalem in ruins.

O God, the nations are come into thine inheritance; Thy holy temple have they defiled; They have laid Jerusalem in heaps.

2 T hey have given the dead bodies of Your servants for food to the birds of the heavens, The flesh of Your godly ones to the beasts of the earth.

The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be food unto the birds of the heavens, The flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

3 T hey have poured out their blood like water round about Jerusalem; And there was no one to bury them.

Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; And there was none to bury them.

4 W e have become a reproach to our neighbors, A scoffing and derision to those around us.

We are become a reproach to our neighbors, A scoffing and derision to them that are round about us.

5 H ow long, O Lord ? Will You be angry forever? Will Your jealousy burn like fire?

How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou be angry for ever? Shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

6 P our out Your wrath upon the nations which do not know You, And upon the kingdoms which do not call upon Your name.

Pour out thy wrath upon the nations that know thee not, And upon the kingdoms that call not upon thy name.

7 F or they have devoured Jacob And laid waste his habitation.

For they have devoured Jacob, And laid waste his habitation.

8 D o not remember the iniquities of our forefathers against us; Let Your compassion come quickly to meet us, For we are brought very low.

Remember not against us the iniquities of our forefathers: Let thy tender mercies speedily meet us; For we are brought very low.

9 H elp us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of Your name; And deliver us and forgive our sins for Your name’s sake.

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name; And deliver us, and forgive our sins, for thy name's sake.

10 W hy should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Let there be known among the nations in our sight, Vengeance for the blood of Your servants which has been shed.

Wherefore should the nations say, Where is their God? Let the avenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed Be known among the nations in our sight.

11 L et the groaning of the prisoner come before You; According to the greatness of Your power preserve those who are doomed to die.

Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee: According to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to death;

12 A nd return to our neighbors sevenfold into their bosom The reproach with which they have reproached You, O Lord.

And render unto our neighbors sevenfold into their bosom Their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13 S o we Your people and the sheep of Your pasture Will give thanks to You forever; To all generations we will tell of Your praise.

So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture Will give thee thanks for ever: We will show forth thy praise to all generations.
