1 N ow Peter and John were going up to the temple at the ninth hour, the hour of prayer.

Now Peter and John were going up into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

2 A nd a man who had been lame from his mother’s womb was being carried along, whom they used to set down every day at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, in order to beg alms of those who were entering the temple.

And a certain man that was lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the door of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;

3 W hen he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he began asking to receive alms.

who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked to receive an alms.

4 B ut Peter, along with John, fixed his gaze on him and said, “Look at us!”

And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him, with John, said, Look on us.

5 A nd he began to give them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.

And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something from them.

6 B ut Peter said, “I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene—walk!”

But Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but what I have, that give I thee. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.

7 A nd seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened.

And he took him by the right hand, and raised him up: and immediately his feet and his ankle-bones received strength.

8 W ith a leap he stood upright and began to walk; and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.

And leaping up, he stood, and began to walk; and he entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

9 A nd all the people saw him walking and praising God;

And all the people saw him walking and praising God:

10 a nd they were taking note of him as being the one who used to sit at the Beautiful Gate of the temple to beg alms, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. Peter’s Second Sermon

and they took knowledge of him, that it was he that sat for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.

11 W hile he was clinging to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them at the so-called portico of Solomon, full of amazement.

And as he held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.

12 B ut when Peter saw this, he replied to the people, “Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this, or why do you gaze at us, as if by our own power or piety we had made him walk?

And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this man? or why fasten ye your eyes on us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made him to walk?

13 T he God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him.

The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Servant Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied before the face of Pilate, when he had determined to release him.

14 B ut you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,

But ye denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted unto you,

15 b ut put to death the Prince of life, the one whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses.

and killed the Prince of life; whom God raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

16 A nd on the basis of faith in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.

And by faith in his name hath his name made this man strong, whom ye behold and know: yea, the faith which is through him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

17 And now, brethren, I know that you acted in ignorance, just as your rulers did also.

And now, brethren, I know that in ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.

18 B ut the things which God announced beforehand by the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled.

But the things which God foreshowed by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer, he thus fulfilled.

19 T herefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;

Repent ye therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that so there may come seasons of refreshing from the presence of the Lord;

20 a nd that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you,

and that he may send the Christ who hath been appointed for you, even Jesus:

21 w hom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time.

whom the heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, whereof God spake by the mouth of His holy prophets that have been from of old.

22 M oses said, ‘ The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren; to Him you shall give heed to everything He says to you.

Moses indeed said, A prophet shall the Lord God raise up unto you from among your brethren, like unto me. To him shall ye hearken in all things whatsoever he shall speak unto you.

23 A nd it will be that every soul that does not heed that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’

And it shall be, that every soul that shall not hearken to that prophet, shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.

24 A nd likewise, all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and his successors onward, also announced these days.

Yea and all the prophets from Samuel and them that followed after, as many as have spoken, they also told of these days.

25 I t is you who are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘ And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’

Ye are the sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with your fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

26 F or you first, God raised up His Servant and sent Him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways.”

Unto you first God, having raised up his Servant, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.
