Genesis 8 ~ Genesis 8

1 B ut God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the cattle that were with him in the ark; and God caused a wind to pass over the earth, and the water subsided.

And God remembered Noah, and all the beasts, and all the cattle that were with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged;

2 A lso the fountains of the deep and the floodgates of the sky were closed, and the rain from the sky was restrained;

the fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;

3 a nd the water receded steadily from the earth, and at the end of one hundred and fifty days the water decreased.

and the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of a hundred and fifty days the waters decreased.

4 I n the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat.

And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

5 T he water decreased steadily until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains became visible.

And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.

6 T hen it came about at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made;

And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made:

7 a nd he sent out a raven, and it flew here and there until the water was dried up from the earth.

and he sent forth a raven, and it went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.

8 T hen he sent out a dove from him, to see if the water was abated from the face of the land;

And he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;

9 b ut the dove found no resting place for the sole of her foot, so she returned to him into the ark, for the water was on the surface of all the earth. Then he put out his hand and took her, and brought her into the ark to himself.

but the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him to the ark; for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: and he put forth his hand, and took her, and brought her in unto him into the ark.

10 S o he waited yet another seven days; and again he sent out the dove from the ark.

And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark;

11 T he dove came to him toward evening, and behold, in her beak was a freshly picked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the water was abated from the earth.

and the dove came in to him at eventide; and, lo, in her mouth an olive-leaf plucked off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

12 T hen he waited yet another seven days, and sent out the dove; but she did not return to him again.

And he stayed yet other seven days, and sent forth the dove; and she returned not again unto him any more.

13 N ow it came about in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first of the month, the water was dried up from the earth. Then Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and behold, the surface of the ground was dried up.

And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dried.

14 I n the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.

And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dry.

15 T hen God spoke to Noah, saying,

And God spake unto Noah, saying,

16 Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.

Go forth from the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.

17 B ring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you, birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that they may breed abundantly on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.”

Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee of all flesh, both birds, and cattle, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.

18 S o Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him.

And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him:

19 E very beast, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves on the earth, went out by their families from the ark.

every beast, every creeping thing, and every bird, whatsoever moveth upon the earth, after their families, went forth out of the ark.

20 T hen Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

And Noah builded an altar unto Jehovah, and took of every clean beast, and of every clean bird, and offered burnt-offerings on the altar.

21 T he Lord smelled the soothing aroma; and the Lord said to Himself, “I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done.

And Jehovah smelled the sweet savor; and Jehovah said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake, for that the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more everything living, as I have done.

22 While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, And cold and heat, And summer and winter, And day and night Shall not cease.”

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
