1 I t is actually reported that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not even among the Gentiles, that one of you hath his father's wife.

¶ It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife.

2 A nd ye are puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he that had done this deed might be taken away from among you.

And ye are puffed up and have not rather mourned, that he that has done this deed might be taken away from among you.

3 F or I verily, being absent in body but present in spirit, have already as though I were present judged him that hath so wrought this thing,

For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, him that has so done this deed.

4 i n the name of our Lord Jesus, ye being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus,

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

5 t o deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

let such a one be delivered unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

6 Y our glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?

7 P urge out the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, even as ye are unleavened. For our passover also hath been sacrificed, even Christ:

¶ Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ, our passover, is sacrificed for us;

8 w herefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

therefore let us celebrate the feast, not in the old leaven, neither in the leaven of malice and wickedness, but in the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

9 I wrote unto you in my epistle to have no company with fornicators;

¶ I wrote unto you in an epistle not to associate with fornicators,

10 n ot at all meaning with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world:

yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world or with the covetous or extortioners or with idolaters, for then ye would need to go out of the world.

11 b ut as it is, I wrote unto you not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no, not to eat.

But now I have written unto you not to associate with anyone calling himself a brother if he is a fornicator or covetous or an idolater or a railer or a drunkard or an extortioner; with such a one do not even eat.

12 F or what have I to do with judging them that are without? Do not ye judge them that are within?

For why shall I judge those that are without? do ye not judge those that are within?

13 B ut them that are without God judgeth. Put away the wicked man from among yourselves.

But those that are without, God shall judge. Therefore, put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
