1 T his know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come.

2 F or men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,

3 w ithout natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

13 B ut evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

14 B ut continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,

15 a nd that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 A ll scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
