1 T he elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

作 長 老 的 寫 信 給 蒙 揀 選 的 太 太 （ 或 作 ： 教 會 ； 下 同 ） ， 和 他 的 兒 女 ， 就 是 我 誠 心 所 愛 的 ； 不 但 我 愛 ， 也 是 一 切 知 道 真 理 之 人 所 愛 的 。

2 f or the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

愛 你 們 是 為 真 理 的 緣 故 ， 這 真 理 存 在 我 們 裡 面 ， 也 必 永 遠 與 我 們 同 在 。

3 G race be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

恩 惠 ， 憐 憫 ， 平 安 從 父 神 和 他 兒 子 耶 穌 基 督 在 真 理 和 愛 心 上 必 常 與 我 們 同 在 ！

4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

我 見 你 的 兒 女 ， 有 照 我 們 從 父 所 受 之 命 令 遵 行 真 理 的 ， 就 甚 歡 喜 。

5 A nd now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

太 太 阿 ， 我 現 在 勸 你 ， 我 們 大 家 要 彼 此 相 愛 。 這 並 不 是 我 寫 一 條 新 命 令 給 你 ， 乃 是 我 們 從 起 初 所 受 的 命 令 。

6 A nd this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

我 們 若 照 他 的 命 令 行 ， 這 就 是 愛 。 你 們 從 起 初 所 聽 見 當 行 的 ， 就 是 這 命 令 。

7 F or many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

因 為 世 上 有 許 多 迷 惑 人 的 出 來 ， 他 們 不 認 耶 穌 基 督 是 成 了 肉 身 來 的 ； 這 就 是 那 迷 惑 人 、 敵 基 督 的 。

8 L ook to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

你 們 要 小 心 ， 不 要 失 去 你 們 （ 有 古 卷 ： 我 們 ） 所 做 的 工 ， 乃 要 得 著 滿 足 的 賞 賜 。

9 W hosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

凡 越 過 基 督 的 教 訓 、 不 常 守 著 的 ， 就 沒 有 神 ； 常 守 這 教 訓 的 ， 就 有 父 又 有 子 。

10 I f there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

若 有 人 到 你 們 那 裡 ， 不 是 傳 這 教 訓 ， 不 要 接 他 到 家 裡 ， 也 不 要 問 他 的 安 ；

11 f or he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

因 為 問 他 安 的 ， 就 在 他 的 惡 行 上 有 分 。

12 H aving many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

我 還 有 許 多 事 要 寫 給 你 們 ， 卻 不 願 意 用 紙 墨 寫 出 來 ， 但 盼 望 到 你 們 那 裡 ， 與 你 們 當 面 談 論 ， 使 你 們 的 喜 樂 滿 足 。

13 T he children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.

你 那 蒙 揀 選 之 姊 妹 的 兒 女 都 問 你 安 。
