Psalm 12 ~ Psalm 12

1 H elp, Lord! For God-like men are here no more. The faithful can no longer be seen among the sons of men.

Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

2 T hey lie to each other. Their lips speak with sweet-sounding words that are not true.

They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

3 M ay the Lord cut off all lips of false respect, and the tongue that speaks of great things.

The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

4 T hey say, “We can win with our tongues. Our lips are our own. Who is lord over us?”

Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

5 Because of the suffering of the weak, and because of the cries of the poor, I will now rise up,” says the Lord. “I will keep him safe as he has wanted to be.”

For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.

6 T he words of the Lord are pure words. They are like silver that has been made pure seven times in a stove of earth.

The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

7 O Lord, You will keep us. You will keep us safe forever from the people of this day.

Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

8 T he sinful walk on every side when bad actions are held in honor among the sons of men.

The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
