Psalm 6 ~ Psalm 6

picture

1 O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

Yahweh, don’t rebuke me in your anger, neither discipline me in your wrath.

2 H ave mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.

Have mercy on me, Yahweh, for I am faint. Yahweh, heal me, for my bones are troubled.

3 M y soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long?

My soul is also in great anguish. But you, Yahweh—how long?

4 R eturn, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake.

Return, Yahweh. Deliver my soul, and save me for your loving kindness’ sake.

5 F or in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?

For in death there is no memory of you. In Sheol, who shall give you thanks?

6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.

I am weary with my groaning. Every night I flood my bed. I drench my couch with my tears.

7 M ine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.

My eye wastes away because of grief. It grows old because of all my adversaries.

8 D epart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.

Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for Yahweh has heard the voice of my weeping.

9 T he Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer.

Yahweh has heard my supplication. Yahweh accepts my prayer.

10 L et all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

May all my enemies be ashamed and dismayed. They shall turn back, they shall be disgraced suddenly.
