1 C hildren, obey your parents in Lord, for this is just.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 H onour thy father and thy mother, which is the first commandment with a promise,
“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise:
3 t hat it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest be long-lived on the earth.
“that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.”
4 A nd fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in discipline and admonition of Lord.
You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
5 B ondmen, obey masters according to flesh, with fear and trembling, in simplicity of your heart as to the Christ;
Servants, be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ;
6 n ot with eye-service as men-pleasers; but as bondmen of Christ, doing the will of God from soul,
not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers; but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
7 s erving with good will as to the Lord, and not to men;
with good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men;
8 k nowing that whatever good each shall do, this he shall receive of Lord, whether bond or free.
knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive the same again from the Lord, whether he is bound or free.
9 A nd, masters, do the same things towards them, giving up threatening, knowing that both their and your Master is in heaven, and there is no acceptance of persons with him.
You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him.
10 F or the rest, brethren, be strong in Lord, and in the might of his strength.
Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might.
11 P ut on the panoply of God, that ye may be able to stand against the artifices of the devil:
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 b ecause our struggle is not against blood and flesh, but against principalities, against authorities, against the universal lords of this darkness, against spiritual of wickedness in the heavenlies.
For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 F or this reason take the panoply of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having accomplished all things, to stand.
Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.
14 S tand therefore, having girt about your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 a nd shod your feet with preparation of the glad tidings of peace:
and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace;
16 b esides all, having taken the shield of faith with which ye will be able to quench all the inflamed darts of the wicked one.
above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.
17 H ave also the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God's word;
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
18 p raying at all seasons, with all prayer and supplication in Spirit, and watching unto this very thing with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints;
with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints:
19 a nd for me in order that utterance may be given to me in opening of my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the glad tidings,
on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News,
20 f or which I am an ambassador with a chain, that I may be bold in it as I ought to speak.
for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
21 B ut in order that ye also may know what concerns me, how I am getting on, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in Lord, shall make all things known to you;
But that you also may know my affairs, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make known to you all things;
22 w hom I have sent to you for this very thing, that ye may know of our affairs and that he may encourage your hearts.
whom I have sent to you for this very purpose, that you may know our state, and that he may comfort your hearts.
23 P eace to the brethren, and love with faith, from God Father and Lord Jesus Christ.
Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 G race with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in incorruption.
Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love. Amen.
