1 A lso you -- being dead in the trespasses and the sins,
And you did he make alive, when ye were dead through your trespasses and sins,
2 i n which once ye did walk according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience,
wherein ye once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, of the spirit that now worketh in the sons of disobedience;
3 a mong whom also we all did walk once in the desires of our flesh, doing the wishes of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath -- as also the others,
among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest:--
4 a nd God, being rich in kindness, because of His great love with which He loved us,
but God, being rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 e ven being dead in the trespasses, did make us to live together with the Christ, (by grace ye are having been saved,)
even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace have ye been saved),
6 a nd did raise up together, and did seat together in the heavenly in Christ Jesus,
and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus:
7 t hat He might show, in the ages that are coming, the exceeding riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus,
that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus:
8 f or by grace ye are having been saved, through faith, and this not of you -- of God the gift,
for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
9 n ot of works, that no one may boast;
not of works, that no man should glory.
10 f or of Him we are workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God did before prepare, that in them we may walk.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God afore prepared that we should walk in them.
11 W herefore, remember, that ye once the nations in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that called Circumcision in the flesh made by hands,
Wherefore remember, that once ye, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called Circumcision, in the flesh, made by hands;
12 t hat ye were at that time apart from Christ, having been alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope, and without God, in the world;
that ye were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
13 a nd now, in Christ Jesus, ye being once afar off became nigh in the blood of the Christ,
But now in Christ Jesus ye that once were far off are made nigh in the blood of Christ.
14 f or he is our peace, who did make both one, and the middle wall of the enclosure did break down,
For he is our peace, who made both one, and brake down the middle wall of partition,
15 t he enmity in his flesh, the law of the commands in ordinances having done away, that the two he might create in himself into one new man, making peace,
having abolished in the flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; that he might create in himself of the two one new man, so making peace;
16 a nd might reconcile both in one body to God through the cross, having slain the enmity in it,
and might reconcile them both in one body unto God through the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
17 a nd having come, he did proclaim good news -- peace to you -- the far-off and the nigh,
and he came and preached peace to you that were far off, and peace to them that were nigh:
18 b ecause through him we have the access -- we both -- in one Spirit unto the Father.
for through him we both have our access in one Spirit unto the Father.
19 T hen, therefore, ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens of the saints, and of the household of God,
So then ye are no more strangers and sojourners, but ye are fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God,
20 b eing built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being chief corner-,
being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief corner stone;
21 i n whom all the building fitly framed together doth increase to an holy sanctuary in the Lord,
in whom each several building, fitly framed together, groweth into a holy temple in the Lord;
22 i n whom also ye are builded together, for a habitation of God in the Spirit.
in whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.
