1 M y heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

2 Y ou are fairer than the sons of men; Grace is poured upon Your lips; Therefore God has blessed You forever.

Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

3 G ird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One, With Your glory and Your majesty.

Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.

4 A nd in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness; And Your right hand shall teach You awesome things.

And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

5 Y our arrows are sharp in the heart of the King’s enemies; The peoples fall under You.

Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.

6 Y our throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.

Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.

7 Y ou love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.

Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

8 A ll Your garments are scented with myrrh and aloes and cassia, Out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made You glad.

All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.

9 K ings’ daughters are among Your honorable women; At Your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir.

Kings' daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

10 L isten, O daughter, Consider and incline your ear; Forget your own people also, and your father’s house;

Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house;

11 S o the King will greatly desire your beauty; Because He is your Lord, worship Him.

So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.

12 A nd the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; The rich among the people will seek your favor.

And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.

13 T he royal daughter is all glorious within the palace; Her clothing is woven with gold.

The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.

14 S he shall be brought to the King in robes of many colors; The virgins, her companions who follow her, shall be brought to You.

She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.

15 W ith gladness and rejoicing they shall be brought; They shall enter the King’s palace.

With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace.

16 I nstead of Your fathers shall be Your sons, Whom You shall make princes in all the earth.

Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.

17 I will make Your name to be remembered in all generations; Therefore the people shall praise You forever and ever.

I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.
