1 A Psalm. -- A Song for the sabbath-day. Good to give thanks to Jehovah, And to sing praises to Thy name, O Most High,

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:

2 T o declare in the morning Thy kindness, And Thy faithfulness in the nights.

to shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,

3 O n ten strings and on psaltery, On higgaion, with harp.

upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.

4 F or Thou hast caused me to rejoice, O Jehovah, in Thy work, Concerning the works of Thy hands I sing.

For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

5 H ow great have been Thy works, O Jehovah, Very deep have been Thy thoughts.

O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

6 A brutish man doth not know, And a fool understandeth not this; --

A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.

7 W hen the wicked flourish as a herb, And blossom do all workers of iniquity -- For their being destroyed for ever and ever!

When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:

8 A nd Thou high to the age, O Jehovah.

but thou, Lord, art most high for evermore.

9 F or, lo, Thine enemies, O Jehovah, For, lo, Thine enemies, do perish, Separate themselves do all workers of iniquity.

For, lo, thine enemies, O Lord, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

10 A nd Thou exaltest as a reem my horn, I have been anointed with fresh oil.

But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

11 A nd mine eye looketh on mine enemies, Of those rising up against me, The evil doers, do mine ears hear.

Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.

12 T he righteous as a palm-tree flourisheth, As a cedar in Lebanon he groweth.

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13 T hose planted in the house of Jehovah, In the courts of our God do flourish.

Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14 S till they bring forth in old age, Fat and flourishing are they,

They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;

15 T o declare that upright Jehovah my rock, And there is no perverseness in Him!

to shew that the Lord is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
