1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from?

A Song of the Ascents. I lift up mine eyes unto the hills, Whence doth my help come?

2 M y help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth.

My help from Jehovah, maker of heaven and earth,

3 H e will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber.

He suffereth not thy foot to be moved, Thy preserver slumbereth not.

4 B ehold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

Lo, He slumbereth not, nor sleepeth, He who is preserving Israel.

5 Y ahweh is your keeper. Yahweh is your shade on your right hand.

Jehovah thy preserver, Jehovah thy shade on thy right hand,

6 T he sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

By day the sun doth not smite thee, Nor the moon by night.

7 Y ahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul.

Jehovah preserveth thee from all evil, He doth preserve thy soul.

8 Y ahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.

Jehovah preserveth thy going out and thy coming in, From henceforth even unto the age!
