Ach mein Auserwählter, ach du Sohn meines Leibes, ach mein gewünschter Sohn,

3 G ive not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

laß nicht den Weibern deine Kraft und gehe die Wege nicht, darin sich die Könige verderben!

4 I t is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:

O, nicht den Königen, Lamuel, nicht den Königen ziemt es, Wein zu trinken, noch den Fürsten starkes Getränk!

5 L est they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

Sie möchten trinken und der Rechte vergessen und verändern die Sache aller elenden Leute.

6 G ive strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.

Gebt starkes Getränk denen, die am Umkommen sind, und den Wein den betrübten Seelen,

7 L et him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

daß sie trinken und ihres Elends vergessen und ihres Unglücks nicht mehr gedenken.

8 O pen thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

Tue deinen Mund auf für die Stummen und für die Sache aller, die verlassen sind.

9 O pen thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

Tue deinen Mund auf und richte recht und räche den Elenden und Armen.

10 W ho can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

Wem ein tugendsam Weib beschert ist, die ist viel edler denn die köstlichsten Perlen.

11 T he heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

Ihres Mannes Herz darf sich auf sie verlassen, und Nahrung wird ihm nicht mangeln.

12 S he will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

Sie tut ihm Liebes und kein Leides ihr Leben lang.

13 S he seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

Sie geht mit Wolle und Flachs um und arbeitet gern mit ihren Händen.

14 S he is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

Sie ist wie ein Kaufmannsschiff, das seine Nahrung von ferne bringt.

15 S he riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

Sie steht vor Tages auf und gibt Speise ihrem Hause und Essen ihren Dirnen.

16 S he considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

Sie denkt nach einem Acker und kauft ihn und pflanzt einen Weinberg von den Früchten ihrer Hände.

17 S he girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

Sie gürtet ihre Lenden mit Kraft und stärkt ihre Arme.

18 S he perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

Sie merkt, wie ihr Handel Frommen bringt; ihre Leuchte verlischt des Nachts nicht.

19 S he layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

Sie streckt ihre Hand nach dem Rocken, und ihre Finger fassen die Spindel.

20 S he stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

Sie breitet ihre Hände aus zu dem Armen und reicht ihre Hand dem Dürftigen.

21 S he is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

Sie fürchtet für ihr Haus nicht den Schnee; denn ihr ganzes Haus hat zwiefache Kleider.

22 S he maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

Sie macht sich selbst Decken; feine Leinwand und Purpur ist ihr Kleid.

23 H er husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

Ihr Mann ist bekannt in den Toren, wenn er sitzt bei den Ältesten des Landes.

24 S he maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

Sie macht einen Rock und verkauft ihn; einen Gürtel gibt sie dem Krämer.

25 S trength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

Kraft und Schöne sind ihr Gewand, und sie lacht des kommenden Tages.

26 S he openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

Sie tut ihren Mund auf mit Weisheit, und auf ihrer Zunge ist holdselige Lehre.

27 S he looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

Sie schaut, wie es in ihrem Hause zugeht, und ißt ihr Brot nicht mit Faulheit.

28 H er children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

Ihre Söhne stehen auf und preisen sie selig; ihr Mann lobt sie:

29 M any daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

"Viele Töchter halten sich tugendsam; du aber übertriffst sie alle."

30 F avour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

Lieblich und schön sein ist nichts; ein Weib, das den HERRN fürchtet, soll man loben.

31 G ive her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Sie wird gerühmt werden von den Früchten ihrer Hände, und ihre Werke werden sie loben in den Toren.
