1 L ord, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.
O Lord, I call upon You; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to You!
2 L et my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
May my prayer be counted as incense before You; The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering.
3 S et a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.
4 I ncline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.
Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice deeds of wickedness With men who do iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies.
5 L et the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.
Let the righteous smite me in kindness and reprove me; It is oil upon the head; Do not let my head refuse it, For still my prayer is against their wicked deeds.
6 W hen their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.
Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock, And they hear my words, for they are pleasant.
7 O ur bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth.
As when one plows and breaks open the earth, Our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol.
8 B ut mine eyes are unto thee, O God the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.
For my eyes are toward You, O God, the Lord; In You I take refuge; do not leave me defenseless.
9 K eep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.
Keep me from the jaws of the trap which they have set for me, And from the snares of those who do iniquity.
10 L et the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While I pass by safely.
