1 T hen I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.
And I looked, and there in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubim, there appeared something like a sapphire stone, having the appearance of the likeness of a throne.
2 A nd he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.
Then He spoke to the man clothed with linen, and said, “Go in among the wheels, under the cherub, fill your hands with coals of fire from among the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.” And he went in as I watched.
3 N ow the cherubims stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court.
Now the cherubim were standing on the south side of the temple when the man went in, and the cloud filled the inner court.
4 T hen the glory of the Lord went up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the Lord’s glory.
Then the glory of the Lord went up from the cherub, and paused over the threshold of the temple; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the Lord ’s glory.
5 A nd the sound of the cherubims’ wings was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh.
And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard even in the outer court, like the voice of Almighty God when He speaks.
6 A nd it came to pass, that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubims; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels.
Then it happened, when He commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, “Take fire from among the wheels, from among the cherubim,” that he went in and stood beside the wheels.
7 A nd one cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubims unto the fire that was between the cherubims, and took thereof, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen: who took it, and went out.
And the cherub stretched out his hand from among the cherubim to the fire that was among the cherubim, and took some of it and put it into the hands of the man clothed with linen, who took it and went out.
8 A nd there appeared in the cherubims the form of a man’s hand under their wings.
The cherubim appeared to have the form of a man’s hand under their wings.
9 A nd when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the colour of a beryl stone.
And when I looked, there were four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel by one cherub and another wheel by each other cherub; the wheels appeared to have the color of a beryl stone.
10 A nd as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel.
As for their appearance, all four looked alike—as it were, a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
11 W hen they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went.
When they went, they went toward any of their four directions; they did not turn aside when they went, but followed in the direction the head was facing. They did not turn aside when they went.
12 A nd their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had.
And their whole body, with their back, their hands, their wings, and the wheels that the four had, were full of eyes all around.
13 A s for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel.
As for the wheels, they were called in my hearing, “Wheel.”
14 A nd every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.
Each one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, the second face the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.
15 A nd the cherubims were lifted up. This is the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar.
And the cherubim were lifted up. This was the living creature I saw by the River Chebar.
16 A nd when the cherubims went, the wheels went by them: and when the cherubims lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also turned not from beside them.
When the cherubim went, the wheels went beside them; and when the cherubim lifted their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also did not turn from beside them.
17 W hen they stood, these stood; and when they were lifted up, these lifted up themselves also: for the spirit of the living creature was in them.
When the cherubim stood still, the wheels stood still, and when one was lifted up, the other lifted itself up, for the spirit of the living creature was in them.
18 T hen the glory of the Lord departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims.
Then the glory of the Lord departed from the threshold of the temple and stood over the cherubim.
19 A nd the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the Lord’s house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
And the cherubim lifted their wings and mounted up from the earth in my sight. When they went out, the wheels were beside them; and they stood at the door of the east gate of the Lord ’s house, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.
20 T his is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they were the cherubims.
This is the living creature I saw under the God of Israel by the River Chebar, and I knew they were cherubim.
21 E very one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.
Each one had four faces and each one four wings, and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.
22 A nd the likeness of their faces was the same faces which I saw by the river of Chebar, their appearances and themselves: they went every one straight forward.
And the likeness of their faces was the same as the faces which I had seen by the River Chebar, their appearance and their persons. They each went straight forward.
