1 P aul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ;
Paul and Silvanus and Timotheus to the assembly of Thessalonians in God our Father and Lord Jesus Christ.
2 G race to you and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace to you, and peace from God our Father, and Lord Jesus Christ.
3 W e are bound to give thanks to God always to you, brethren, even as it is meet, for that your faith growth exceedingly, and the love of each one of you all toward one another aboundeth;
We ought to thank God always for you, brethren, even as it is meet, because your faith increases exceedingly, and the love of each one of you all towards one another abounds;
4 s o that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions which ye endure;
so that we ourselves make our boast in you in the assemblies of God for your endurance and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations, which ye are sustaining;
5 w hich is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God; to the end that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, to the end that ye should be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for the sake of which ye also suffer;
6 i f so be that it is righteous thing with God to recompense affliction to them that afflict you,
if at least righteous thing with God to render tribulation to those that trouble you,
7 a nd to you that are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels of his power in flaming fire,
and to you that are troubled repose with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven, with angels of his power,
8 r endering vengeance to them that know not God, and to them that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus:
in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who know not God, and those who do not obey the glad tidings of our Lord Jesus Christ;
9 w ho shall suffer punishment, even eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,
who shall pay the penalty everlasting destruction from presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his might,
10 w hen he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be marvelled at in all them that believed (because our testimony unto you was believed) in that day.
when he shall have come to be glorified in his saints, and wondered at in all that have believed, (for our testimony to you has been believed,) in that day.
11 T o which end we also pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of your calling, and fulfil every desire of goodness and every work of faith, with power;
To which end we also pray always for you, that our God may count you worthy of the calling, and fulfil all good pleasure of goodness and work of faith with power,
12 t hat the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you and ye in him, according to the grace of our God, and of Lord Jesus Christ.
