1 ( 1-: 2) E

Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

2 ( 12 -3) Đức Giê-hô-va cũng có sự khẩn cầu với Giu-đa, và Ngài sẽ phạt Gia-cốp theo đường lối nó; Ngài sẽ báo trả nó theo việc nó lam.

The Lord hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.

3 ( 12 -4) Vừa lúc ở trong lòng mẹ, Gia-cốp nắm gót chơn anh mình; và đến tuổi trưởng thành, có quyền nơi Đức Chúa Trời.

He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:

4 ( 12 -5) Người có quyền hơn thiên sứ, và được thắng; khóc lóc và khẩn cầu người. Ngài đã gặp người tại Bê-tên, và ấy đó là nơi Ngài phán cùng chúng ta,

Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;

5 ( 12 -6) tức là Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời vạn quân; danh kỷ niệm Ngài là Đức Giê-hô-va.

Even the Lord God of hosts; the Lord is his memorial.

6 ( 12 -7) Vậy ngươi khá trở lại cùng Đức Chúa Trời ngươi; giữ sự nhơn từ và sự công bình, luôn luôn trông đợi Đức Chúa Trời ngươi.

Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment and wait on thy God continually.

7 ( 12 -8) Nó là người buôn bán cầm những cân dối trá trong tay mình; nó ưa gian lận.

He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.

8 ( 12 -9) Phải, E

And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.

9 ( 12-10) Ta là Đức Giê-hô-va, làm Đức Chúa Trời ngươi từ khi ngươi ra khỏi đất Ê-díp-tô, ta sẽ còn làm cho ngươi dưới các trại như trong những ngày lễ trọng thể.

And I that am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.

10 ( 12-11) ta cũng đã phán cho các kẻ tiên tri; đã thêm nhiều sự hiện thấy và đã cậy chức vụ các kẻ tiên tri mà dùng thí dụ.

I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.

11 ( 12-12) Ga-la-át là gian ác, chúng nó chỉ là giả dối. Chúng nó dâng những bò đực trong Ghinh-ganh; nên những bàn thờ chúng nó giống như những đống trong luống cày nơi ruộng.

Is there iniquity in Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.

12 ( 12-13) Gia-cốp trốn đến ruộng A-ram; Y-sơ-ra-ên làm tôi để được vợ, và vì được vợ mà người chăn các bầy.

And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.

13 ( 12-14) Đoạn, Đức Giê-hô-va nhờ một đấng tiên tri đem Y-sơ-ra-ên khỏi Ê-díp-tô; và nhờ đấng tiên tri gìn giữ nó.

And by a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.

14 ( 12-15) E

Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.
