1 I will extol you, Yahweh, for you have raised me up, and have not made my foes to rejoice over me.

I will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

2 Y ahweh my God, I cried to you, and you have healed me.

O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

3 Y ahweh, you have brought up my soul from Sheol. You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

4 S ing praise to Yahweh, you saints of his. Give thanks to his holy name.

Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

5 F or his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

6 A s for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.”

And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.

7 Y ou, Yahweh, when you favored me, made my mountain stand strong; but when you hid your face, I was troubled.

Lord, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.

8 I cried to you, Yahweh. To Yahweh I made supplication:

I cried to thee, O Lord; and unto the Lord I made supplication.

9 What profit is there in my destruction, if I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise you? Shall it declare your truth?

What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

10 H ear, Yahweh, and have mercy on me. Yahweh, be my helper.”

Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper.

11 Y ou have turned my mourning into dancing for me. You have removed my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness,

Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

12 T o the end that my heart may sing praise to you, and not be silent. Yahweh my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

to the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
