T he sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (for he was the firstborn; but, because he defiled his father’s couch, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel; and the genealogy is not to be listed according to the birthright.

Estes são os filhos de Rúben, o filho mais velho de Israel. (De fato ele era o mais velho, mas, por ter desonrado o leito de seu pai, seus direitos de filho mais velho foram dados aos filhos de José, filho de Israel, de modo que não foi alistado nos registros genealógicos como o primeiro filho.
