Now the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn, but because he defiled his father’s bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel; and he was not counted as the firstborn.


Estes são os filhos de Rúben, o filho mais velho de Israel. (De fato ele era o mais velho, mas, por ter desonrado o leito de seu pai, seus direitos de filho mais velho foram dados aos filhos de José, filho de Israel, de modo que não foi alistado nos registros genealógicos como o primeiro filho.
