H e said, “While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, ‘Who knows whether Yahweh will not be gracious to me, that the child may live?’

فقالَ داوُدُ: «عِنْدَما كانَ الطِّفلُ ما يَزالُ حَيًّا، رَفَضْتُ أنْ آكُلَ وبَكَيتُ لأنَّني فَكَّرْتُ في نفسي: مَنْ يَدْري؟ لَرُبَّما شَفِقَ اللهُ عَلَيَّ وَتَرَكَ الطِّفلَ يَحْيا.
