A nd he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether God will be gracious to me, that the child may live?

فقالَ داوُدُ: «عِنْدَما كانَ الطِّفلُ ما يَزالُ حَيًّا، رَفَضْتُ أنْ آكُلَ وبَكَيتُ لأنَّني فَكَّرْتُ في نفسي: مَنْ يَدْري؟ لَرُبَّما شَفِقَ اللهُ عَلَيَّ وَتَرَكَ الطِّفلَ يَحْيا.
