C ũng trong ngày đó, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên bị mệt đuối. Vả lại, Sau-lơ có thề cùng dân sự rằng: Đáng rủa sả người nào sẽ ăn vật thực gì trước khi chiều tối, tức trước khi ta báo thù những kẻ cừu địch ta! Vì vậy, cả dân sự đều cử không ăn vật thực gì hết.

And the men of Israel have been distressed on that day, and Saul adjureth the people, saying, `Cursed the man who eateth food till the evening, and I have been avenged of mine enemies;' and none of the people hath tasted food.
