V ả, Ru-bên, con trưởng nam của Y-sơ-ra-ên, vì làm ô uế giường của cha mình, nên quyền trưởng tử đã về các con trai Giô-sép, là con trai Y-sơ-ra-ên; dầu vậy, trong gia phổ không chép Giô-sép là trưởng tử;

Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel. For was the eldest, but because he polluted his father’s couch his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph son of Israel; so the genealogy is not to be reckoned according to the birthright.
