A tunci Ismael, fiul lui Netania, s'a sculat cu cei zece oameni de cari era însoţit, şi au lovit cu sabia pe Ghedalia, fiul lui Ahicam, fiul lui Şafan, şi au omorît astfel pe acela, pe care îl pusese împăratul Babilonului dregător peste ţară.
