U nd Josua sandte Männer aus von Jericho gen Ai, das bei Beth-Aven liegt, gegen Morgen vor Beth-El, und sprach zu ihnen: Geht hinauf und erkundet das Land! Und da sie hinaufgegangen waren und Ai erkundet hatten,

Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth-aven, east of Bethel. He said to them, “Go and spy out the land in secret.” So the men went and spied out Ai.
