A uch allen Juden, so im Lande Moab und der Kinder Ammon und in Edom und in allen Ländern waren, da sie hörten, daß der König zu Babel hätte lassen etliche in Juda übrigbleiben und über sie gesetzt Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams, des Sohnes Saphans,

All the Jews in Moab and Ammon and Edom, and in all the other countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left some of the people in Judah. They heard that he had chosen Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, to rule over them.
