T he place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.

وَدُعِيَ ذَلِكَ المُكانُ بِوادِي أشكُولَ بِسَبَبِ العُنقُودِ الَّذِي قَطَعَهُ بَنو إسْرائِيلَ مِنْ هُناكَ.
