J oshua took Makkedah that day and smote it and its king with the sword and utterly destroyed everyone in it. He left none remaining. And he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of Jericho.

În aceeaşi zi, Iosua a cucerit Makkeda şi a trecut-o prin ascuţişul sabiei. L-a ucis pe regele ei şi i-a nimicit cu desăvârşire pe toţi oamenii care erau în ea, nelăsând nici un supravieţuitor. I-a făcut regelui din Makkeda la fel cum îi făcuse regelui din Ierihon.
