E ven though Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah tried to persuade the king not to burn the scroll, he would not listen to them.

وَمَعْ أنَّ ألْناثانَ وَدَلايا وَجِمَرْيا، تَوَسَّلُوا إلَى المَلِكِ كَي لا يَحرِقَ المَخطُوطَةَ، إلّا أنَّهُ لَمْ يَستَمِعْ إلَيهِمْ.
