A nd behold, our whole family has risen against your handmaid, and they say, Deliver him who slew his brother, that we may kill him for the life of his brother whom he slew; and so they would destroy the heir also. And so quenching my coal which is left, they would leave to my husband neither name nor remnant upon the earth.

Ora tutta la parentela è insorta contro la tua serva, dicendo: "Consegnaci colui che ha ucciso il fratello, affinché lo facciamo morire per la vita di suo fratello che egli ha ucciso e per sterminare anche l'erede". In questo modo spegneranno l'unico tizzone acceso che mi è rimasto e non lasceranno a mio marito né nome né discendenza sulla faccia della terra».
