A nd David sweareth again, and saith, `Thy father hath certainly known that I have found grace in thine eyes, and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved; and yet, Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth, but -- as a step between me and death.'

А Давид іще присягнув та й сказав: Добре пізнав твій батько, що я знайшов милість в очах твоїх. І сказав він: Нехай не довідається про те Йонатан, щоб не був він засмучений. Але як живий Господь і як жива душа твоя, між мною та смертю не більше кроку!
