A nd Eliab, his eldest brother, heareth when he speaketh unto the men, and the anger of Eliab burneth against David, and he saith, `Why this -- thou hast come down! and to whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I have known thy pride, and the evil of thy heart -- for, to see the battle thou hast come down.'

Eliab, suo fratello maggiore, avendo udito Davide parlare a quella gente, si accese d’ira contro di lui e disse: «Perché sei sceso qua? A chi hai lasciato quelle poche pecore nel deserto? Io conosco il tuo orgoglio e la malignità del tuo cuore; tu sei sceso qua per vedere la battaglia».
