a nd a second time a cock crew, and Peter remembered the saying that Jesus said to him -- `Before a cock crow twice, thou mayest deny me thrice;' and having thought thereon -- he was weeping.

E subito, per la seconda volta, il gallo cantò. Allora Pietro si ricordò della parola che Gesù gli aveva detta: «Prima che il gallo abbia cantato due volte, tu mi rinnegherai tre volte». E si abbandonò al pianto.
