o nly that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at least those who knew nothing of it before:

فَكانَ هَذا لِتَعلِيمِ فُنُونِ الحَرْبِ لأجْيالِ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ الَّذينَ لَمْ يَخُوضُوا حُرُوباً مِنْ قَبلُ.
