V ì chưng chúng ta ngày trước cũng ngu muội, bội nghịch, bị lừa dối, bị đủ thứ tình dục dâm dật sai khiến, sống trong sự hung ác tham lam, đáng bị người ta ghét và tự chúng ta cũng ghét lẫn nhau.

For we also were once thoughtless and senseless, obstinate and disobedient, deluded and misled; slaves to all sorts of cravings and pleasures, wasting our days in malice and jealousy and envy, hateful (hated, detestable) and hating one another.
