Đ ức Giê-hô-va vốn chậm nóng giận và đầy ơn; hay xá điều gian ác và tội lỗi; nhưng không kể kẻ có tội là vô tội, và nhơn tội tổ phụ phạt con cháu trải ba bốn đời.

The Lord is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.
