E ntonces los judíos, por cuanto era la preparación de la Pascua, a fin de que los cuerpos no quedaran en la cruz el sábado (pues aquel sábado era de gran solemnidad), rogaron a Pilato que se les quebraran las piernas y fueran quitados de allí.

¶ The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day (for that sabbath day was a high day) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.
