C uando todos los jefes del ejército de Judá que no se habían rendido, y sus hombres, supieron que el rey de Babilonia había nombrado gobernador del país a Gedalías hijo de Ajicán, y que había dejado a su cargo a los hombres, las mujeres y los niños, y a los pobres de la tierra que no habían sido llevados a Babilonia,

And all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam over the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that had not been carried away captive to Babylon.
