A los que me herían les ofrecí la espalda, y a los que me arrancaban la barba les ofrecí la mejilla; no escondí mi rostro de las injurias ni de los escupitajos.

I gave my back to those who beat me, and my cheeks to those who plucked off the hair. I didn’t hide my face from shame and spitting.
