E l rey Joás de Israel le envió al rey Amasías de Judá la siguiente respuesta: «Había en el Líbano un cardo, que mandó a decir al cedro del Líbano: “Deja que tu hija se case con mi hijo.” ¡Pero los animales salvajes del Líbano pasaron y pisotearon el cardo!

And Joash, king of Israel, sent to Amaziah, king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife. And behold, the wild beasts that were in Lebanon, passed by, and trode down the thistle.
