A l ver los cananeos, que habitaban esa región, el llanto que había en el campo de Atad, dijeron: «Grande es el llanto de los egipcios.» Por eso aquel lugar recibió el nombre de «Abel Mizrayin». Este lugar está al otro lado del Jordán.

When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning at the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning for the Egyptians. Therefore the place was called Abel-mizraim; it is west of the Jordan.
