E le a leu em alta voz desde o raiar da manhã até o meio-dia, de frente para a praça, em frente da porta das Águas, na presença dos homens, mulheres e de outros que podiam entender. E todo o povo ouvia com atenção a leitura do Livro da Lei.

And he read in the book before the plaza that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.
