E stes são os filhos de Rúben, o filho mais velho de Israel. (De fato ele era o mais velho, mas, por ter desonrado o leito de seu pai, seus direitos de filho mais velho foram dados aos filhos de José, filho de Israel, de modo que não foi alistado nos registros genealógicos como o primeiro filho.

And the sons of Reuben the first-born of Israel (for he was the first-born; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father's couch, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel; and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.
