R econstruiu os altares idólatras que seu pai Ezequias havia demolido e também ergueu altares para Baal e fez um poste sagrado para Aserá, como fizera Acabe, rei de Israel. Inclinou-se diante de todos os exércitos celestes e lhes prestou culto.

For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah, his father, had destroyed, and he raised up altars for Baal and made a grove, as Ahab, king of Israel, had done; and he worshipped all the host of heaven and served those things.
